FIELD OF PRAISE
The fifth annual “Field Of Praise” will be held July 30 through August 1 at the Marion Athletic Field, Marion, Wisconsin. The free family event, now in its fifth year, has attracted over a thousand people each year since 2006. In addition to the music and speakers each evening, children’s programming and activities are offered in a separate area on Saturday.
This year’s speakers are Dave Wager and Pat Hurley. Groups currently scheduled include the Wissman Family, Praise Fourmation, For His Glory, Sisters in Song, Sheltered Reality, True Calling, Wolf River Harmony, The Lawrence Family, and Lightswitch. The Friday evening concert will feature the Wissman Family.
Field Of Praise offers musical performances late Friday afternoon and throughout the day on Saturday. An evening concert and service are offered on both Friday and Saturday evening. Saturday evening after the speaker and concert, “Lightswitch” will present a concert for teen and young adult listeners. An offering will be collected each evening and collection boxes will also be placed in various locations. All offerings will be used towards this year’s expenses or they will be saved towards Field Of Praise 2011. A prayer tent will be available at all times.
The event offers music Friday afternoon and evening as well as all day Saturday and Saturday evening. Performers from around Wisconsin and the Midwest will bring a variety of music and musical stylings. Their recordings and merchandise will be available for sale. Food and beverages will be available on the grounds Friday and Saturday.
The Second Annual “Sole 2 Soul” 5K run/walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. (Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. or runners may pre-register on Friday.) The “Sole to Soul” 5K run has over 100 runners each year. The run is sponsored by, and is a fund raiser for, the Marion Area Family Resource Center. Awards for the runners are handed out at the music stage during the morning performances. Runners are encouraged to bring their families and spend the day at Field Of Praise. Information regarding the “Sole to Soul” run can be obtained by contacting the Marion Family Resource Center, P.O. Box 267, Marion, WI 54950, or by calling 715-754-2491.
Saturday will feature children’s activities from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Young attendees will have the opportunity to play games, enjoy craft and art projects, and listen to singers and story tellers.
Field Of Praise is a free event but the 5K run requires an entrance fee. All performances are fully handicapped accessible. Information may be obtained by calling 715-754-2215 or by emailing field_of_praise@yahoo.com. Donations may be sent to Field Of Praise, P.O. Box 535, Marion, WI 54950.

Harmony By the Bay Concert
The sixth annual Harmony by the Bay community music festival will be held on Saturday, July 31 at the band shell in Marina Memorial Park on First Street in Menominee. The event begins at 11am and runs through 9pm. It is an annual concert that is free to the public and includes national recording artists and local bands.
This free event is made possible by the generous contributions of area businesses and organizations including Patz Corporation of Coleman, Attorney Jerry Wilson of Wilson and Spangenberg Law Office in Marinette, Dr. Peter Kurtz Optometry of Menominee, Culligan Water of Peshtigo, the Landing Restaurant of Menominee, Sharkey Greenhouse and Floral of Crivitz, Dale Nergard of Marinette, Miller Action Office Supply of Menominee, D&G Advisory Group of Menominee, and from various other anonymous contributors.
This year, national recording artists Amy Shreve from Nashville and Rosanna Fiorazo from Appleton will both return by popular demand. Many bands and groups from northeast Wisconsin and throughout the Michigan Upper Peninsula are also set to perform, making this truly a regional event. For the first time, an additional stage will be set up adjacent the band shell to enhance the concert.
Children's activities will also be available free of charge courtesy of CEF of Iron Mountain, and Scoops of Marinette plans to once again provide food for a nominal fee. The event is conducted in association with WPFF Radio, 90.5FM, Sturgeon Bay. As in previous years, various organizations are planning to set up tables and booths on the park grounds. In the event of rain, Blesch Auditorium on will be an alternate.
The committee includes Lauri Van Osdol, James Langteau, Keith Akins, Elaine Klitzke, Shawn Katzbeck, Jean Arnold, Chris Burkart, and Kevin Grenier, and they do not receive any compensation. If you have questions or would like to participate in this annual concert program, please contact committee co-chairpersons Lauri Van Osdol and James Langteau by emailing harmonybythebay@aol.com or calling 906-290-2100. To cover costs, donations are accepted and can be mailed to: Harmony by the Bay, PO Box 892, Menominee, MI 49858.
