Seven Mountains of Influence
By Greg Christman
In 1975, Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade, and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With a Mission, had lunch together. God simultaneously gave each of them a message to give to the other: “The culture is shaped by seven mind-molders, or mountains, in society. If we can influence each of these areas for Christ, we will win the culture of our nation.”
God is calling His children to unity, to come together in battle, to fight for His people. God has identified for us 7 mountains, or areas of influence, within our culture where if His people come together in battle, seeking Him, and surrounding ourselves in prayer, we can make a difference. These mountains are arts & entertainment, business, education, family, government, media and religion. Each of these areas exerts great influence on our culture today. We as Christians have sat back and allowed the enemy to set footholds in each of these areas, and our culture is in grave danger. We must reclaim these mountains for God.
There is a national movement to “Reclaim the 7 Mountains of Culture” which has many online resources and a national conference coming up in February 2009. There is also a local group, beginning in Appleton/Fox Cities area that is trying to organize a group of intercessors, and warriors for Christ, to begin the process of reclaiming the mountains in our state - Strategy for Victory: Wisconsin.
If, while reading this, you feel led to participate in this movement, to reclaim the mountains of influence, or if you feel inspired to be involved in one particular area, or if you just want more information, please contact me. My website, listed below, will have resources and contact information for both the Wisconsin group, and for the national groups. Take some time to pray about this, and to discover what God is leading you to do to help regain control in these areas in your local community, and beyond.
