
We had made plans to meet our friends Howdy and Yahooskin at a truck stop just outside of Alamogordo. When they showed up, they had a reporter from the local Christian newspaper with them. Howdy later wrote an article that was published in the local paper. Howdy and Yahooskin can relate to our experiences. They have made several trips across parts of the country, using horses, donkeys, wagons, and camels. When we talk of the blessing of turning on a tap and feeling warm water run across our hands, they know exactly what we mean and how we feel.
We reached the end of the walk at the KOA Campground on the doorstep of yet another friend, Paul. Our dear friend was glad we made the trip safely, although we think he may have questioned our sanity in undertaking such a venture. He just shook his head, looked at Shiloh (our little dog) and with his beautiful Danish accent said, “Did they make you walk all that way?”
As we sat and visited with Paul this evening, the fact that we had reached our destination began to sink in. It is joy mixed with a strange sadness. It has been a time of watching God operate in our lives daily. The protection and provision that was given to us became a very real part of every day. As long as we looked to God for our needs, kept ourselves responsible, and did the best we could in whatever circumstance we found ourselves, we knew Go ...
