After weeks of homes and forests burning in Los Angeles, different opinions have been given by Christians and Muslims about who has allowed this to happen. Christians say it is the judgment of God because of the sin of homosexuality, drugs, and so on, which is openly practiced throughout California. However, Muslims say it is the judgment of Allah because Americans allowed Israel to destroy the cities of Gaza in Israel. Who is speaking the truth?
First, I would like to respond to the Christians. If this was the judgment of God, why did God not destroy all of California, not just the Los Angeles area? As a matter of fact, why did God not destroy all of America? Does God judge sin depending on how many people practice it or how much it is celebrated? The answer is absolutely no. Throughout the Old Testament, we know that God judged the entire Jewish nation because of the sin of even one person. Look at what happened in the biblical account of Jericho and the sin of Achan in Joshua 7. Achan sinned against God by taking some of the spoils from the city of Jericho that God had forbidden the Israelites to take. As a result of this sin, the men of the small town of Ai defeated the Israelites in battle. The conclusion of this account is that the God of the Old Testament judged the entire nation for the sin of one man.
