The Wrath of God

Well, it is that time of year again. I am not referring to a time of outdoor barbeques ... swimming and fireworks ... I am referring to that time of year when sexual deviancy and debauchery hits the streets in colorful parades ... with men dressed as women ... in highly sexualized costumes ... all in effort to poison and confuse the minds of young children ... brought to this disgusting event by their deceived and disillusioned parents. Yes, that’s right ... it is “Pride Month” in America!

Many in our evil culture of today, those practicing and supporting their sin and deviancy, those “doing what is right in their own eyes,” defend their sin by shouting “GOD IS LOVE!”

Yes, He loves us. He loves us so much that He gave us His one and only Son as payment for our sins. However, that is only one side of God.

Several years ago when I taught at Rock River Bible College, the class I taught was called “Spiritual Boot Camp.” In that class, I often spoke of the “wrath of God.” Students didn’t like hearing about God’s wrath. Maybe it was because they pictured God as this all loving “teddy bear” who never gets angry and only loves us, no matter how wicked and sinful we may be. Maybe it was discomforting for them to realize that the Creator of the heavens and the earth does get angry with us ... and could smite us with a blink of His eye!

For those of you who profess that “God is Love,” you must remember that God is our heavenly Father — and just like our earthly fathers, He only wants what is best for His children, and wishes we all join Him in heaven, for He wishes no one to go to hell. But He will discipline us when our actions call for it. No good father would watch their child drive off the edge of a cliff. It is a father’s responsibility to raise his children in righteousness — to praise them when earned, and to punish them when disobedient. A good father — a righteous father — will not turn a blind eye to his child’s disobedience, much less condone it!

Proverbs 13:24 reads: “He who spares the rod, hates his son. But he who loves his son is diligent to discipline him.” The words, “And God’s anger burned” can be found throughout Scripture.

Did He not completely destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah due to the same practices supported in “Pride Month?” The answer is a resounding YES — and He will not “spare the rod” when it comes time to punish us for our sin and disobedience!

Serving the Lord, obeying His Word and disobeying His Word is serious business that carries serious consequences. For those of you who continue to explain away your sin by saying, “God is Love”  ... you need to read to the end of the Book!

Back when I was a student at Rock River Bible College, one of our assignments was to write a paper on one segment of the Book of Revelation.  My paper was on the opening of the seven seals and the blowing of the seven trumpets and the wrath that God will pour down upon the earth at the Tribulation. Here are just a couple excerpts from that paper.

“As morning finally arrives, panic is everywhere! Most communication is lost due to the fires. The earth is ablaze. There is total chaos and rioting in the streets. The sky is gone! There is only a huge black cloud of ash, acting as a black ceiling between God and man. Humanity or civilization as we know it is coming undone. The air is filled with cries and screams of many.”

“Modern man has never seen so much destruction and devastation in such a short period of time. As if the burning of half the planet wasn’t bad enough, a flaming meteorite the size of Maine pummeled into the sea. Its impact felt around the world, and caused swift and gigantic tidal waves bringing even more mass destruction to the inhabitants of this planet.”

“Planet earth lies in ruins! What hasn’t been destroyed by fire, water or the meteorites hangs in the balance. There will be no Red Cross rescue, no more disaster relief coming from our government or any other country — we are all on our own. Today’s task is simple: find food, water ... and stay alive!”

“All communications and modes of transportation have not only been cut off but they have been completely destroyed. Gone is man’s aire of supremacy ... gone is his arrogance and pride ... gone is his boldness and ambition. He is like a little child, lost in the night ... searching for a light ... for security ... for help ... for mercy ... for pity... but today he will find none!”

God is more than love. He is also just. He will condemn those that have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior! How do I know this ... Scripture tells me so! Just like it tells us ... "to lie down with a man as one lies down with a woman is an “abomination.” It is an abomination against His Word, His creation, His design, His design and gift of marriage.

Make no mistake.  There is no greater force in heaven or hell than the wrath of God!
