Where Has All the Water Gone?

  “The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.” (Revelation 16:12 NIV).

   Palm trees have always been a favorite. They are beautiful and can stand up to the strongest of winds.

   A few weeks ago, much of the beauty of the Ft. Myers-Sanibel-Captiva area was destroyed. Beautiful, calm and clear water, a white, sandy beach and lined with tall Palm trees one day. The next, utter devastation at the hand of Hurricane Ian. Any Palms left were stripped bare of their fronds. The city streets became rivers, and security cameras filmed the rising water as it rose above the cameras and Stop signs disappeared. If your business or home was within a quarter-mile, there was a good chance, after Evil Ian, that your place had a shrimp boat, barge or ex-luxury yacht on what had been the roof. 

   One hundred twenty-five is the death toll as of November 1, 2022, washed out to sea or resting under a pile of debris. Ian was the worst and most expensive hurricane to ever hit the area and changed the geography from Naples to Port Charlotte. Unprecedented wind; unprecedented surge.  
Just five years ago, Hurricane Irma hit the same area after weakening, yet it was the most expensive disaster to hit Florida in recorded history. Unprecedented.< ...
